Students looking to become certified in computer numerical control, or CNC, can do so at Alvin Community College starting in August.
Registration is now open at ACC located at 3110 Mustang Road, Alvin, for the six-month CNC certification program, the college announced in a news release on August 1. The program has been inactive since before the pandemic of COVID-19 and returned, confirmed by the college’s communications department.
CNC machinists operate mills and lathes, which are used in industrial construction projects, according to the news release. The skills learned in the ACC program are designed to ensure that students are trained in the methods and technologies they will experience in the workforce.
Courses for the CNC program will begin at the end of August, according to the release. For more information about the CNC program, call 281-756-3787 or email [email protected]
“We have an industry-proven curriculum,” said Sarah Currie, ACC’s director of business and technical programs. “We need something important to meet the needs of these industries. We want to train them and in the field.”
