Ekiti computer engineer seeks N12m for kidney transplant


An embattled family in Oye Ekiti, Ekiti State said their 34-year-old son computer engineer, Akinwale Daramola, is in dire need of financial support from good and kind Nigerians, corporate organizations and government to survive.

The family said Daramola, who suffers from End Stage Kidney disease and has been under treatment since July 27, 2021, needs an urgent kidney transplant, which is estimated to cost between N9 million and N12 million in Nigeria.

According to the consultant-in-charge of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Ido Ekiti Renal Unit, Dr Omotola Obajolowo, “Daramola is administered for End State Kidney disease and is on maintenance intermittent hemodialysis three times per week among other care.

“Her adherence to care was poor due to financial constraints. The family asked us to write down the details of the cost of care for the purpose of requesting funding for support. Specific care is renal transplantation costing between N9 – N12 million in Nigeria.

The medical consultant said that “at intervals, the patient should continue care (including three dialysis sessions per week) .The total cost of care per month is estimated at N581,000 which is pending transplantation ”.

“Any help that can be given to any well-intentioned individual and corporate organizations will be very helpful to alleviate his overall condition,” according to the expert.

The patient’s wife, Olumuyiwa Daramola, said, “Please save my husband from dying. We need financial support to save his life. At first, we thought the kidney would recover through regular dialysis, but until then we were told that the kidney was already wrapped and that he needed a kidney transplant.

“Before the illness, he was a computer engineer and also sold phones and laptop accessories at Fayose Market, Ado Ekiti as well as Oye Ekiti. We sold the remaining items to take care of the treatment. After that we turned to the family. and friends to save his life.
