Disable these Windows 10 services to speed up your computer

Is your computer stuck in sloth mode? This can be slow due to programs you don’t need.

Windows 10 comes pre-loaded with many unnecessary functions that can be safely disabled to increase the speed of your PC. Like your cell phone, unused programs always run in the background and drag down your processor.

If you want to speed things up, one solution is to disable unwanted programs. Here are five services you can safely turn off in Windows 10 to give your PC a much needed speed boost.

1. Turn off the Print Spooler

When was the last time you printed something directly from your computer? Even after a long time, the print spooler still runs in the background and eats up processing power.

If you can’t remember the last time you printed something and don’t plan to print anytime soon, go ahead and hand the ax to your print spooler.

How to turn off the print spooler:

  • Hold the Windows + R stuff.
  • Type in service.msc and hit entry.
  • Scroll down and double click on Print Spooler.
  • Change the Type of Start on Disabled.
  • Clicking apply.
  • Under the tab for Service Statusclicking pause.
  • Clicking OK ra and close the window.

2. Turn off fax services

Fax services are just as old as a dial-up internet connection. If it’s something you don’t need anytime soon, you can safely go ahead and disable it.

How to close fax services:

  • Hold the Windows + R stuff.
  • Type in service.msc and hit entry.
  • Scroll down and double click on Fax.
  • Change the Type of Start on Disabled.
  • Clicking apply.
  • Under the tab for Service Statusclicking pause.
  • Clicking OK ra and close the window.

3. Turn off Bluetooth

There are legitimate things you can do with Bluetooth, such as controlling intelligent lights or connecting to a stereo system. But, most likely, you are already using your cellphone to do these things instead of your computer. If that’s the case, turn off the Bluetooth function and give your processor more.

Here’s how to turn off Bluetooth:

  • Click Windows stuff.
  • Select the Gear Settings Icon.
  • Clicking Tools.
  • on Bluetooth and other devices section, slide the toggle under Bluetooth to the left to disable it.

4. Terminate remote desktop services

Remote desktop services are one of the biggest security threats to your system. This feature allows someone in another location to replace your computer and fully operate it remotely.

The legitimate reason it exists is to allow Microsoft tech support to help you if you have a problem. They can jump into your system and start troubleshooting. Unfortunately, cybercriminals can also do nothing. Tap or click here for details on the tech support scams that have just been spking.

For your security and system benefit, go ahead and turn it off. Increasing the processing power is an added benefit.

How to disable remote desktop services:

  • kind Remote Settings to the search bar next to the Windows button.
  • selection Remote Desktop Settings.
  • Toggle the switch on OFF.

5. Touch keyboard & handwriting panel services

The touch keyboard creates an on-screen interactive keyboard that you type. The handwriting panel allows you to write with a stylus and your regular handwriting.

Unless you need this customized help, it’s safe to go ahead and prevent these services from stealing processing power from the items you want to use.

How to turn off the touch keyboard and handwriting panel:

  • kind Ease of keyboard access to the search bar next to the Windows button.
  • selection Ease of access to keyboard settings.
  • Toggle the switch on the bottom Use your device without a physical keyboard on the left to disable it.
  • kind Input in handwriting to the search bar next to the Windows button.
  • selection Handwriting Input Panel Settings.
  • Uncheck the box marked Write on the handwriting panel with the tip of your finger.

Mao na! Enjoy your boosted processing speed and power. This list scratches the face of useless things running in the background of your computer, though.
