National computer upgrade delays death count; 36 more in W.Va. | Daily Index


Thursday’s report: State health officials focused on a national data system update that affected all 50 states for the sudden jump in Covid-related deaths in West Virginia.

In its report Thursday, the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHR) counted 36 deaths in the past 24 hours while reporting only one death from Thursday to Tuesday.

From June 6-20, 2022, the National Center for Health Statistics was unable to certify deaths due to data system updates, DHHHR said in its daily report.
